David Pole, PhD, MPH

Director of the Center for Interprofessional Education & Research
Dr. Pole directs the Center for Interprofessional Education and Research at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and is an Assistant Professor in Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Pole holds a MPH in community health science and a PhD in Education Studies with a focus on curriculum and instruction. He has worked on health professional pipeline programs at SLU for the past 15 years, along with community-based clinical training for the family medicine clerkship and mentoring longitudinal community-engaged service projects for medical students. He currently teaches patient safety and quaintly improvement courses for MS1-MS2 students in collaboration with senior BSN students. He is the course director for an Interprofessional Team Seminars Course across MS3 that includes 650+ students from eight professions at thier professional/clinical level of training.

His administrative role includes the supervision of an academic concentration & minor in IP Practice for undergraduate health professions students, graduate level IPE programs, and clinical integration of IPE/IPP. He is a member of the Quality and Patient Safety Steering Committee for SLUCare clinical practice, the Continuous Quality Improvement Council for the School of Medicine, and facilitates professional development sessions on Collaborative Change Leadership for ambulatory care clinic managers and hospital-based nursing leadership to improve effective teamwork and team-based care.
